DESCRIPTION
Hawthorn, a deciduous tree, can reach 30 feet in height and can also be grown as a shrub. Clusters of white flowers bloom in spring, and bright red berries, called haws, form in the fall.

HABITAT
This tree grows in temperate regions in Europe, North Africa, India, and North America.

FOLKLORE AND TRADITIONAL USES
Hawthorn's name comes from "haw" derived from the Old English haga, which also meant "hedge," because its thorns and sturdy twigs made it a perfect barrier for cattle and pigs. It earned its former nickname "bread and cheese" when people ate the leaves during hard times. The branches were used in Maypole ceremonies to symbolize renewed life, fertility, and spring. Romans attached hawthorn sprigs to the cradle of a newborn baby to protect it against illnesses and evil influences. This was reputedly the plant used in Christ's crown of thorns. For centuries, people believed that lightning, the work of the devil, would never strike a hawthorn tree, because this plant had rested upon the forehead of Christ.

MEDICINAL USES
Historically hawthorn was used as a diuretic and to treat kidney stones. By the late 19th century, doctors understood the connection between hawthorn and the heart. An extract of the flowers and leaves improves cardiac output and the contractility of the heart muscle itself. Flavonoids in hawthorn have been shown to increase blood flow in the heart by dilating blood vessels in coronary arteries. Hawthorn has lowered cholesterol in animal studies, probably due to its oligomeric procyanidins (OPC), a type of bioflavonoids similar to that found in the extracts of grape seed and grape skin.

Hawthorne Berry - Its Benefits As a Heart Herb

Hawthorn herbs come from the Hawthorne Berry, which is a small red berry that looks like a miniature apple as it too grows on a tree. This thorny tree grows 30 feet tall and has beautiful pink or white flowers during the spring. The tree is known by several names, including the how, may bush or mayflower tree.

The Hawthorne Berry

Herb

There is a good reason why Hawthorne Berries are used as heart disease herbs. Not only can they help to regulate your blood pressure but they can also break down cholesterol and fat, both of which contribute to heart disease. They also help dilate coronary blood vessels so that your body is able to utilize oxygen, blood and nutrients more efficiently throughout your entire body.

Hawthorne Berry - Its Benefits As a Heart Herb

Bioflavonoids

Hawthorne Berry is loaded with bioflavanoids, which are potent antioxidants. In fact, there are a lot of people who believe that they are actually a lot more potent than Vitamins A, C or E. It is these bioflavanoids that help your heart muscle be able to pump blood more efficiently. Whenever you have healthy arteries you will also have more endurance, good blood pressure and healthy blood vessels. This is the reason why this natural heart medicine is actually best used as a preventative medicine but it can also be used to treat heart disease too.

Hawthorne for Your Vascular System

The vascular system is also important whenever it comes to supporting your heart. It has been shown that Hawthorne Berry will reduce calcification of your vascular system. As such, this heart extract will stop the arteries that lead to your heart from hardening or narrowing. You also won't develop any blot clots, which can lead to strokes and heart attacks.

Hawthorne Supplements

Hawthorne Berry tea is often used for natural heart health even today. It can be made from the berries, the berry leaves or even the flowers of this herb. This tea is packaged and sold at most health food stores throughout the world. You can also get this alternative medicine for the heart in capsules or as a tincture.

Research on the Hawthorne Berry

Ever since the early 1900's, and even continuing today, there have been clinical trials and research done in regard to the medicinal value of Hawthorne Berry extract. Unfortunately, science has only partially evaluated the benefits of this herb on human health though. Nevertheless, it is still believed that the antioxidants, flavanoids and other compounds that are found in the Hawthorne Berry give this herb its beneficial effects. For this reason, it is sometimes added to heart herbal remedies in order to help reduce a person's blood pressure and correct any potentially unhealthy cholesterol levels.

Recently most of the studies about Hawthorne Berry extract are concerned with the medicinal value of this extract in regard to its affect upon a person's liver, digestive system and cardiovascular system. Many of these studies are also looking at Hawthorne Berry as an anti-inflammatory agent. The many studies that have been completed thus far have not looked at the use of Hawthorne Berry tea so much as they have looked at the usage of the concentrated extract itself.

While there are some health care professionals who have recognized the medicinal value of Hawthorne Berry extract for more than 100 years now, research on this extract is still considered to be only preliminary. This is because the majority of this type of research is funded by pharmaceutical companies and they are unable to patent a naturally occurring substance. For this reason, any of the natural remedies that contain Hawthorne Berry or other such herbs are of little interest to them.

Conclusion

Hawthorne berries are thought to be one of the safest herbal heart supplements on the market today. As with any other medication, Hawthorne berries do have some side effects that occur on rare occasions. These include headaches, nausea and rapid heartbeat. It is also important to understand that there are a few possible drug interactions too. Therefore, if you are taking any prescription medications, you should contact your doctor before taking this heart supplement. Nevertheless, Hawthorne berries are considered to be safe for long-term usage.

Knowing About Herbs and Their Uses Will Provide Many Benefits

We are sometimes unaware of the benefits of herbs and of their uses. But with a little investigation, we are able to find their advantages in many forms.

Not the least of these benefits is how the flavors enhance our foods. Herbs, especially fresh herbs are the foundation for great seasoning in our meals. Excellent food can be prepared very simply and result in a masterpiece with the right herbal additions. "The fresher the better" is the key, but even dried herbs can add that extra bit of flavor that hits the taste buds in just the right way. Chefs the world over and since time began have understood the importance of adding herbs.

\"about Herbs\"

But, those chefs often knew the health benefits of herbs, as well. Our pharmaceutical industries began with herbal ways of treating illness. As far back as 400 BC the Greek physician Hippocrates was prescribing willow tree bark (rich in salicin) to relieve pain and fever. This is the same substance that, centuries later, chemist Felix Hoffmann synthesized into a stable powder to make aspirin for the Bayer Company. Many of our current synthetic drugs have their research roots firmly planted in ancient herbal remedies. And many of today's drugs are made with herbal foundations.

Many people prefer the herbal option over a synthetic alternative because of the organic nature of the remedy and the personal control that is available in a naturopathic environment. We are all bombarded with unhealthy products and questionable agricultural methods and pollutants. Our immune systems become fatigued. Homegrown herbs can help mitigate those attacks and restore some of the healthy balance that we crave. Our bodies can utilize some of the herbs as filters. It can enlist some of the herbs as transportation units to help expel unhealthy invaders in us. And herbs can ease some of the stresses that put such a burden on our already overstressed systems.

The therapeutic properties of medicinal plants are not only advantage obtained from a thorough study of herbology. One of the benefits, not often sited, in the herbal community is the sense of purpose, peace and accomplishment reached by the actual growing of our own herbs. Whether we have acres of land available to us for developing a full-scale herb farm or we only have a tiny spot by a window for a pot, growing our own herbs can supply us with a greater connection to our food.

The ultimate intended purposes of our plants will determine what we will grow and how much, but, as we begin to learn all of the possibilities available to us and we begin to have successes with our herb farming, we will figure out how to expand and enjoy growing plants that we will actually use.

Herbs are sometimes expensive to buy but easy and inexpensive to grow. Seeds or small plants can be found readily. Pots can be as expensive as an intricate hydroponic system or as cheap as an old cut up milk carton. The key is figuring out what we want to grow and learning the best way of growing it.

Whether we are looking for new ways to express ourselves in our cooking, looking for natural remedies or want to get back to the soil, herbs are an easy solution for our concerns. Their benefits far exceed the required investment. Herbs and their uses are a very valuable study. The more we learn the more we want to know. And the more we know, the more we benefit.

Health Benefits Of Parsley

Parsley is perhaps one of the most commonly used but therapeutically under-rated of herbs. How often one sees a dish in a restaurant garnished with parsley, and the waiter leaves the parsley on the serving dish or the customer rejects it as mere decoration.

Parsley contains more vitamin C than any other standard culinary vegetable, with 166mg per 100g (4oz). This is three times as much as oranges and about the same as blackcurrants. The iron content is exceptional with 5.5mg per100g (4oz), and the plant is a good source of manganese (2.7mg per 100g) and calcium (245mg per 100g). It is also exceptionally high in potassium, with one whole gram of potassium in 100g (4oz) .

\"health Herbs\"

In the Middle Ages parsley was used for many conditions including 'fastening teeth' (because scurvy which is caused by a deficiency of vitamin C makes the gums spongy and the teeth loose) and for 'brightening dim eyes' (bad eyesight is a sign of shortage of vitamin A). The old herbalists often had good results without their knowing the chemistry involved. The old Greeks were in awe of parsley because the herb was associated with Archemorus who was eaten by a serpent having been put on a parsley leaf as a baby by his careless nurse. Henceforward he became the harbinger of death.

On the bright side, they decorated the heroes of the isthmian games with parsley garlands and decorated the many maidens that sang at feasts in the same way. This last use may be associated with the great effectiveness of parsley in increasing menstruation and helping in regular process of monthly periods. This action is due to the presence of apiol which is a constituent of the female sex hormone estrogen. The plant was used against the effects of malaria with some success and Father Kniepp said it was one of the most proven of all remedies as a diuretic to cure water retention or dropsy.

Today parsley is a valuable therapy for kidney stones, as a diuretic, for rheumatism, menstrual insufficiency and as a general stimulant. It settles the stomach and improves the appetite. The high content of vitamin C is not only useful in its own right, but also assists the absorption of the valuable quantity of iron.

Parsley juice, being a herbal drink, is quite powerful and is usually taken in quantities of about 2 fl oz (50ml) three times a day and is best mixed with other juices. The leaves can be deep frozen and are easily stored. It is a good idea to use parsley in cooking as well as in the form of juice. Dried parsley is not a very satisfactory alternative to fresh and has a coarser flavor.

Health Benefits Of Parsley

Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on home based natural cures and shows the importance of parsley which can cure many illnesses and other health problems.

The 8 Secret Benefits of "The Miracle Herb" - Pueraria Mirifica

I have been exploring, working & living in south east Asia for many years, while here one of the things that I have become really intrigued in is the wide spread acceptance and use of natural alternative remedies. Particularly herbs, plants & roots that are used in conjunction with current medical practices.

One of the plants I have found during my time in Thailand is named Puerara mirifica, also recognized as "the miracle herb" or "the miracle medicine" for its astounding benefits. It has only recently been brought to the west and is gaining popularity in the the modern world as a fantastic alternative medicine. There is more than meets the eye to this clever little herb as more research is uncovering just how much this herb can do!

Herb

Eight of its well-known benefits are shown beneath:

1. Natural Breast Improvement / Breast Enhancement
2. Natural Menopause Remedy / Peri Menopause
3. Firming of Breasts
4. Increases Blood Flow
5. Enhances skin tone, Nourishes the Skin
6. Minimizes Wrinkles
7. Slows Premature fading of Hair & Strengthening of Hair
8. Revitalizes the Body

The herb originates from a climbing vine and is native to Thailand, well-known locally as Kwao Keur and has been used here for over a 100 years. Only the last few years Pueraria mirifica has grown to be better accepted to the rest of us out side of Thailand and Asia.

One of Pueraria mirifica's biggest properties is that it has the capacity to stimulate growth especially in the area of natural breast enhancement & improvement. It can also enhance firmness as well as size. This is a huge alternative to ladies who would rather stay away from familiar cosmetic practices such as implants. Pueraria Mirifica achieves this because it contains Phytoestrogens or (estrogen hormones derived from a plant) the phytoestrogens are made up of isoflavones (including genistein, puerarin, miroestrol.) These substances have very similar properties to the female hormone estrogen.

Another significant benefit of Pueraria Mirifica is for women in menopause, Pueraria Mirifica doesn't just simply mimic estrogen in the body the way that other therapies do, instead, the plant (much like the human byproduct it resembles) acts on estrogen receptors. In more transparent terms, it acts as a balancing agent: When levels of estrogen are too high, Pueraria Mirifica will tie up receptors to weaken the hormones effects-when levels are low, the plant exerts the essential estrogenic activity without actually raising the amount of estrogen in your body.

Pueraria mirifica has many ailias's one of which is well-known as "the fountain of youth" due to its anti aging and wrinkle reducing properties. Here are a number of other points that other herbalists have come to know about this herb. More impressive properties Pueraria mirifica has:

1. Relief with sleeping problems
2. Promotes eyesight
3. Helps to increase concentration
4. Promotes appetite

This plant is a really extraordinary find in the herbal medicine world, as it is only found naturally in Thailand. You may well call this new product HRT with a twist = herbal rejuvenation therapy or herbal treatment.

The 8 Secret Benefits of "The Miracle Herb" - Pueraria Mirifica

After all Pueraria mirifica is " the miracle medicine [http://www.herbalorganics.biz/Pueraria-Mirifica-Latin-Kwao-Keur-The-Miracle-Herb/] " and I'm positive we will be hearing a lot more regarding this plant in the future, due to its increasing demand in the West.

Health Benefits Of Basil

Basil is a popular herb in Italian cooking, particularly in pesto. This fragrant and flavorful herb, a relative of peppermint, is an excellent, nutritious addition to your pasta sauce, soup, or salad.

An array of flavonoids exist in basil, which help to protect cells and chromosomes from damage. Studies have shown that two of these flavonoids in particular, orientin and vicenin, are useful in protecting cell structures and chromosomes from damage by radiation and oxygen.

Herb

Essential oil of basil has been shown to inhibit the growth of several types of bacteria, many of which have become resistant to antibiotics. This essential oil has been found to inhibit growth of the widespread staphylococcus, enterococcus, pseudomonas, and e. coli bacteria, among others. Adding basil to your vinaigrette will both enhance the flavor, and ensure that the fresh salad greens are safe to eat.

Eugenol, which is found in essential oil of basil, provides an anti-inflammatory effect, by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase. Aspirin and Ibuprofen work by blocking this same enzyme. So, basil can have healing benefits, and provide relief from the symptoms of inflammatory problems, like rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel conditions.

Basil is also a good source of vitamin A, which helps to prevent damage to the cells by free radicals. Vitamin A also prevents free radicals from oxidizing cholesterol in the blood stream, preventing the cholesterol from building up in the blood vessels.

Magnesium is also present in basil. This essential mineral helps the heart and blood vessels to relax, improving blood flow. Other nutrients found in basil include iron, calcium, potassium, and vitamin C.

The fresh, spicy flavor and scent of basil will wake up any boring salad or soup. Use fresh basil whole, or shredded to add a burst of flavor to your dinner. If you are using fresh basil in a cooked dish, add it towards the end of cooking, so that the volatile oils will not be dissipated by the heat.

Insalata Caprese is a simple salad, utilizing tomatoes, fresh mozzerella cheese, basil, and olive oil.

2 large tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick.

1 cup fresh basil leaves.

Amazing Health Benefits of Cilantro - The Mega Benefits of Eating Fresh Cilantro

Recently I noticed I began to use cilantro at unprecedented levels in my cooking and had decided to look cilantro up on the web, even though I only recently started to cook and use it in my cooking and garden four years ago but never to the extent of my recent usage amounts. I wasn't going to search as to why I had been craving this herb, but what were its supposed effects, if any on our bodies. I was shocked to learn how great cilantro actually is for us and to our overall health.

It was only until now that I was curious what the herb was all about. And why the heck was I started to naturally crave this herb? I had to get to the bottom of this but promptly! I knew I had used it plenty of times in my 'Oh So Famous Salsa' recipe. But I needed to know what did cilantro do, if anything to us and our bodies. With the research I found, this article was created and I just had to share.

Herb

Who knew That Cilantro Was This Good!?!

Want a cure all for viral and bacterial infections and more? Well read on...albeit maybe novel, the ability to use cilantro greatly increases our ability to clear up recurring infections, both viral and bacterial especially when eaten with omega-3 enriched foods such as nuts. But there are many other wonderful side effects of eating Cilantro. Who knew?

Why Fresh?

Although we all like to use fresh herbs if we can get them, it seems that there are more benefits than first thought, especially when us foodies started to first go all hog-wild on the "got-to-be-fresh-happy" with the use of non-dried herbs in our cooking. So many of us grew up with dried herbs, and for many more, dried herbs that would stay in our cupboards for years. I know I am not alone here. That by the time we reached (some sort of ) adulthood, we wished to cook no more "out-of-the-box", but back to the real deal, thankfully to food network stations everywhere telling us the importance of a dishes success depends on the use of the freshest of herbs.

This trend in "using fresh herbs as a must" is so true that McCormick, this past fall, placed out one page magazine advertisements in several magazines and even created a website to assist visitors in checking out just how old their herbs were in their cupboards. If you think I am kidding check and note if any of your spices from the McCormick's is from the Baltimore factory, if so, note that this bottle is over 15 years old! Yuck! I had four or five in my cabinets that were promptly tossed. Yeah I know, who knew!

Using Cilantro In Your Cooking

Cilantro has a mild peppery taste, flat leaves and is similar looking to flat-leafed parsley. It is a family member of the carrot family - and as you can tell from its looks, the tops of this wonderful herb resemble that of a carrot top.

Cilantro is great as an edible garnish. If you mince it and sprinkle any dish you have before you, literally, including your breakfast eggs, you will receive its curing and healing attributes of the cilantro herb.

But I have recently resurrected its' importance in being a main point in my daily diet. After a little research, I learned that cilantro seems to have some very interesting (and affordable) super health benefits and can be seen as a major cleaner of the body in ridding heavy metals such as mercury, lead and aluminum from one's body.

Yes, there's more people, cilantro is also a blood cleaner. And heck why not eat what you love and detox your body simultaneously?

It seems that for years there have been drugs available to help rid the body of the heavy metals called, 'Chelation therapy' [which] using chemical agents like EDTA has long been used to help remove heavy metals" but it seems as if cilantro is one of the affordable natural substances than can remove these metals naturally.

So what do you do to get this herb to assist in your healing?

Best eaten raw, but you knew that already! Some suggestions include using cilantro pesto (recipe below) over pasta, spread onto toasted Italian bread, a dollop over your cooked meat, etc. you get the idea here people! You can also add this peppery herb to cooking, from any and all rice dishes, and pastas to meat dishes.

This herb is also very affordable in fresh bunches at your grocery store. My local store has them at .00 for (2) two nice-sized bunches. A small handful (2 teaspoons minced) used in your salads every day for two to three weeks which is the recommended amount to have its curing properties work on your issues it seems, will have you feeling better than you have been in a long while.

Do wash your cilantro very well though. The best way is to fill a large bowl with cold water, and gently put the tops in tops down into the bowl. Stirring the end of the bunch of cilantro, swishing it around will help loosed any soil that may be on it. You can then shake dry and place it in a bad, much the same you would do wish washed lettuce.

Want To Grow Cilantro?

Cilantro is super easy to grow from seed, - which is the coriander seed - hey who knew?!? But be sure to cut your plant often like parsley, for constant fresh growth. Likes sun, and the cilantro is a simple herb that also helps to keep the bugs away. Another natural remedy! A great plant for kids to try as one of their first herbs due to its quick growing in the garden and low-maintenance gardening requirements. Cilantro also does fairly well in a extra sunny kitchen window.

A friend of mine has a great cilantro 'pesto' though his is very hot, there are many variations I see on the web. The main point it that you will increase your ability to heal yourself from viral and bacterial infections - especially re-occurring ones with adding 2-3 teaspoons of fresh cilantro with your diet every day for two to three weeks.

I have started this trend of uping the use of my cilantro amounts now for a week, and my head seems clear and my body feels great. Now I know why from this research. I will let you all know how fantastic I feel in two weeks on this.

Here's one recipe for Cilantro Pesto.

Cilantro Pesto

1 clove garlic

1 cup almonds, cashews, or other nuts

1 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves

2 tablespoons lemon juice

6 tablespoons olive oil

Put the cilantro and olive oil in blender and process until the cilantro is chopped. Add the rest of the ingredients and process to a lumpy paste. (You may need to add a touch of hot water and scrape the sides of the blender.) You can change the consistency by altering the amount of olive oil and lemon juice, but keep the 3:1 ratio of oil to juice. (It freezes well, so you can make several batches at once.)

Happy Healing Healthily in a Hurry!

As a side note though, there is one spice tin I keep simply for its name, shape of its tin and for the nostalgic purpose in reminding me of my mother's kitchen cabinets which had more spices than any neighbor and was more organized than any kitchen cabinet I knew of then. And yes, she was a great cook and known outside the family for her parties full of fantastic homemade food. And for these reasons why I probably write so much on food besides cooking up a storm any chance I get. But I am loving my cilantro but hard, an herb she never got to learn to try. I will make sure my friends and family do not have the same experience but instead learn and more importantly add this oh-so affordable herb to their everyday diet for better health!

Alfalfa Herb - Alfalfa Benefits from the 'Father of All Foods'

The Arabs named it alfalfa meaning 'father of all foods.' It is also called Buffalo Herb, Lucerne, and Purple Medic. The ancient Greeks used it to treat bladder and kidney conditions. The Chinese use alfalfa herb to treat kidney stones. For 1500 years it has been used as a food and herbal medicine. So what makes alfalfa so good?

First, the alfalfa herb is rich in vitamins A (eye health), E (heart and cardiovascular health), U (treats peptic ulcers), B6 (stimulates protein and fat metabolism), K (blood clotting and liver functions), and D (regulates the use of calcium and phosphorus in the body). Second, alfalfa contains many valuable minerals such as calcium and phosphorus (bone and teeth health), iron (needed in hemoglobin), manganese (lowers blood sugar levels), potassium (muscle tone and nerves), chlorides (regulates fat, sugar and starch metabolism), sodium (regulates fluid balance), and silicon magnesium (stimulates brain function).

Herb

Alfalfa also contains eight essential enzymes: Amylase (acts on starches), Coagulase (clots blood), Emulsin (acts upon sugar), Invertase (converts cane sugar to dextrose), Lipase (fat splitting), Pectinase (forms vegetable jelly), Peroxidate (oxidizing effect of the blood), and Protase (digests proteins). These in turn help in digesting all four classes of food: proteins, fats, starches and sugars. The alfalfa herb is also rich in protein and fiber.

Alfalfa benefits lower cholesterol by attracting it to itself before the cholesterol can stick to vessel walls. The chlorophyll, enzymes, minerals, and vitamins all aid digestion and help stimulate appetites. As a mild diuretic and laxative, it may improve appetite and relieve some causes of swelling. The chlorophyll in alfalfa helps fight bad bacteria. Alfalfa may help reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels which can benefit heart health. It is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections, as well as problems with the prostate, kidney, and bladder. Alfalfa has anti-inflammatory qualities and thus can relieve pain associated with arthritis and bursitis.

Consider this list of alfalfa benefits in child birth: relieves problems of morning sickness, constipation, anemia, and heartburn; vitamin K reduces postpartum bleeding and increases K level in the baby; increases and sustains milk supply; reduces swelling, and balances blood sugar levels. Alfalfa may reduce hot flashes in menopausal women as well.

The nutrition of alfalfa may be ingested as leaves or as a tea. It can also be purchased as a liquid, tablet, or capsule. Not all the benefits listed above may be desirable. For example, because of its blood thinning qualities, it is not recommended for those with lupus. The alfalfa herb certainly deserves the name 'the father of all foods.' Such a multitude of alfalfa benefits should motivate more people to get in on its goodness.

Health Benefits of Shiso - What Can This Herb Do For You

The concept of natural medicine and using items to help heal your body naturally is certainly nothing new. In fact, this idea has been around for ages. Now it might be considered 'alternative medicine' compared to the technology that exists these days, but some people still prefer to use a natural healing method rather than lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry. One of things that can be used for such a task is something known as Shiso. This is simply an herb that is a part of the mint family. It is found quite commonly in places like China, Japan, Vietnam and India.

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons why people like to use Shiso is for its ability to help make the skin look healthier. These mint tea leaves can work from the inside to help give your skin a more lustrous shine, not to mention a better overall complexion. The reason these tea leaves are able to help the skin look so much better is because of a few different reasons. These tea leaves are loaded with different properties such as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic components. Not only do these agents help make the skin look better, but they can also help improve the overall health of your immune system.

Herb

One of the reasons why Shiso tea leaves are able to help improve the condition of the skin has to do with all of the natural vitamins and minerals that are found inside of the leaves themselves. This type of tea is very simple to make and can be consumed either piping hot or ice cold. Not only is it available in tea form that you can drink, but other products also make use of its natural properties. It can also be found in things like lotions, moisturizers and soaps.

The oil that is found inside of Shiso tea leaves is extracted by heavily compressing the seeds. This oil has a lot of uses on its own and is usually more sought after for these other uses than it is for its taste. Some of the health benefits of this oil include being a great source for omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for improving immunity, helping to prevent cancer and heart disease. In addition to medical benefits, the oil that comes from these leaves can also be used in creating various paints, lacquers, printing inks, varnishes and linoleum.

Health Benefits of Shiso - What Can This Herb Do For You
